Dr. Bailey Brown completed her PhD in sociology from Columbia University. At Columbia, Brown previously earned a M. Phil. and M.A and was named Paul F. Lazarsfeld Fellow and a Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellow. Brown holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology with minors in urban education and Africana studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Brown was a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, a Leadership Alliance Fellow, graduated cum laude, and received top departmental honors for her senior thesis at Penn. For the 2020-2021 academic year Bailey joined the Department of Sociology at Princeton University as a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow. Brown is an Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Spelman College.  Brown researches and teaches on the sociology of education, research methods, urban sociology, race and ethnicity, and inequality. Brown’s publications appear in Sociology of Education, the Sage Encyclopedia for Higher Education and in the second edition of Focus on Social Problems: A Contemporary Reader. Brown’s forthcoming work appears in the second volume of the Handbook of Education Policy Research. Brown is also the recipient of multiple internal and external grant awards from the Gordon-Zeto Center for Global Education, Spelman’s Summer Interdisciplinary Grant program, and the National Science Foundation.  

Dr. Hima Vangapandu is a technology licensing specialist at UTHealth San Antonio. Dr. Vangapandu received a PhD in experimental therapeutics from MD Anderson Cancer Center. She has over 10 years of experience in cancer research. She published in journals such as Molecular Cancer Research and received multiple awards throughout graduate training and postdoctoral fellowships. 

Dr. Vangapandu now works at the intersection of science and business and plays a major role in evaluating technologies emerging from cutting edge research by assessing their commercial potential, protecting these ideas and marketing them for commercialization. 

Dr. Vladimir Petrovic is a historian researching mass political violence and strategies of confrontation with its legacy. He is a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Contemporary History of Serbia and a Core Curriculum faculty member at Boston University. He also teaches at the Harvard Extension School and CEU's Invisible University for Ukraine. He studied history at College of Philosophy, Belgrade University, graduating from comparative history at Central European University, Budapest and completing postgraduate specialization at NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies in Amsterdam. He has published extensively on foreign policy of socialist Yugoslavia and on the history of ethnic cleansing (Etničko čišćenje: geneza koncepta, Arhipelag, 2019). His latest book in English, The Emergence of Historical Forensic Expertise: Clio takes the Stand (Routledge, 2017) examines the role of historians and social scientists as expert witnesses in some of the most dramatic legal reckonings with the violent past. 

Dr. Ana-Maria Piso-Grigore is an independent scientist and researcher with over 10 years of experience in applying data science and artificial intelligence techniques to astrophysics problems. She holds two bachelor degrees in Physics and Math from M.I.T. (2010), and a Ph. D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Harvard University (2016). Her doctoral research has focused on theoretical studies and modelling of extrasolar planet compositions. She held two postdoctoral positions at UCLA and CSUN, where she continued my exoplanet research studying planet formation and protoplanetary disks evolution. At that time, she also became highly interested in artificial intelligence and data science, to which end she completed a 6-month internship as a data scientist at a medical device company. In 2019, she returned to her home country, Romania, where she is currently working as Project Manager and Science Data Processing Engineer at a private company in the space sector. Here, she is managing and coordinating internal activities for upgrading SST tools for optical telescopes using AI capabilities. In parallel, she is leading business development activities for science missions related advances, with the goal of developing novel tools and solutions to facilitate exoplanet data processing using AI. She has four peer-reviewed publications in the Astrophysical Journal as lead author with over 300 citations in total.

Ganesh Mani is an Adjunct Professor of Innovation Practice at Tepper School of Business, CMU. Ganesh has worked on scaling human expertise via AI in many milieus.  Ganesh has an MBA in finance, a PhD in AI from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BTech in Computer Science from IIT-Bombay. He is past-President and long-term board member of TiE's Pittsburgh chapter, co-MD of TiE Pittsburgh Angels; and on the advisory board of the FDP Institute as well as journals such as Financial Data Science and Patterns. Ganesh’s work has been patented, featured in a Barron’s cover story and published in leading academic journals and popular opinion pages. 

James Marchant received his PhD from the University of British Columbia in comparative physiology. He holds a Masters degree in marine biology earned from the University of Western Brittany and The European Institute for Marine Studies. He is currently a Postdoctoral Associate at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute where he specializes in cardiology research. His research focuses on the discovery of genes involved in atrial fibrillation and the discovery of small antiarrhythmic molecules. 

Dede Ankrah is an MBA graduate from the University of Oxford Said Business School in the United Kingdom and holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering. With a strong academic and corporate background, she brings nearly a decade of commercial experience to the table. Dede is a seasoned business strategist with a proven track record in designing and executing business strategies, generating and developing product insights, and managing customer value.

She currently serves as a board member and holds the position of Executive Director at Te-Apo, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes for stroke patients by enhancing the accessibility of diagnostic imaging through the transformative power of art. Additionally, she collaborates with an academic firm to support students in academic or research projects in business management.

Garth is a PhD candidate at Northwestern University studying biofilms. They graduated from UC Berkeley with a BS in Microbial Biology and a minor in Chemistry after which they worked as a research assistant studying the human gut microbiome at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. 

Garth has been a laboratory researcher for a decade. They started their research journey in community college at the UC Davis Bodega Marine Lab studying endocrine disruption in minnows. After interning at the USDA and Lawrence Berkeley National Labs studying pollen gene expression and adaptive evolution they got a position as a Research Assistant researching community interactions in the human gut microbiome. 

They are currently a professional tutor in scientific research and writing, and an avid amateur gardener.
